The well-known Noether's symmetry theorem asserts that the invariance of the action functional with respect to a smooth group of transformations gives conservation laws for a mechanical system. In the paper under review, the authors extend Noether's theorem and the DuBois-Reymond necessary optimality condition to the setting of calculus of variations and optimal control systems with time-delay. Both Lagrangian and Hamiltonian formulation are covered.
