The author studies the effective many-body dynamics of a system of Bosons interacting in a disc-shaped trap. Such trap is obtained from an external potential which confines the Bosons in one spatial dimension. It is shown that if the system initially forms a Bose-Einstein condensate with factorized wavefunction, then the dynamics generated by the associated Hamiltonian preserve this property. The time evolved condensate wavefunction satisfies a nonlinear 2D equation. For the scaling parameter \(\beta\), if \(\beta \in (0,1)\), a cubic defocusing nonlinear Schrödinger equation is obtained, and if \(\beta =1\) a Gross-Pitaevskii equation is obtained. This work extends previous known results for the range \(\beta \in (0, 2/5)\) to now include \(\beta \in (0, 1]\) and further allows for a larger class of confining traps.
