The non-symmetric Jack polynomials are the simultaneous eigenfunctions of the type-A Cherednik operator : \[ \xi_i = \left( 1 \over k \right) x_i {\partial \over \partial x_i} + x_i \sum_{j<i} {1 - (ij) \over x_i - x_j} + \sum_{j>i} {x_j(1-(ij)) \over x_i - x_j} + 1 - i \] where \((ij)\) is transposition of \(x_i\) and \(x_j\). These arise in the Calogero-Sutherland model, an exactly solved quantum many-body system in one dimension. The author surveys the work of Baker and Forrester and of Sahi on these polynomials and derives several new results. These include formulas for the norms of the non-symmetric Jack polynomials and for polynomials with prescribed symmetric or skew symmetric properties for parabolic subgroups of the symmetric group. The author also evaluates \({\mathcal{A}}_If(1^N)\) when \(f\) is skew-symmetric with respect to \(S_I\) for some \(I\), an interval of \(\{1,\ldots,N\}\). Here \(S_I\) is the subgroup of \(S_N\) that fixes all \(i \notin I\), \(a_I(x)\) the minimal alternating polynomial of \(S_I\), and \({\mathcal{A}}_I\) the associated division symmetrizing operator on polynomials, \[ {\mathcal{A}}_If(x) := {1 \over (\#I)!} \sum_{w \in S_I} \text{ sgn}(w) f(xw)/a_I(x). \] He also describes what is known about the \(B_N\) analogs of these non-symmetric Jack polynomials.
