[Part I resp. II have been written by the first and the last author and appeared in J. Math. Biol. 6, 367-374 (1978; Zbl 0393.92012) resp. Rocky Mt. J. Math. 12, 779-784 (1982; Zbl 0525.92014)]. In this part is presented the qualitative analysis (extinction, persistence, oscillations) of a predator-prey model, in which the prey is subdivided in three subpopulations (three genotypes) associated to two alleles at a single locus. The model is a nonlinear system of ordinary differential equations, in which birth and death coefficients for the prey depend on the total prey population. A first result on partial extinction is obtained by looking at the omega limit sets of the solutions (an important observation is positive boundedness of the solutions). A similar analysis leads to persistence, of course with another set of assumptions. Finally, we would like to mention an interesting argument of bifurcation from which a family of periodic asymptotically stable solutions can be derived for the equations of a particular subclass. Note that, as indicated in the title, diversity of the behavior is related to that one of the predator growth influence.
