The author describes the first non-trivial example of the KPRV determinant in the (simplest possible) quantum affine case. For the affine algebra \(\mathfrak{g}\) of type \(A_1^{(1)}\) the underlying loop algebra \(\widehat{\mathfrak{g}}\) is an admissible \(\mathfrak{g}\)-module with a one-dimensional zero weight space. The author shows that for the simple highest weight \(\mathfrak{g}\)-module \(V(\rho)\) of highest weight \(\rho\) (which is the sum of a choice of fundamental weights) there is a unique embedding \(\widehat{\mathfrak{g}}\hookrightarrow \operatorname{End} V(\rho)\) of \(\mathfrak{g}\)-modules. Furthermore, if \(S_1\) is a non-zero element of \(\widehat{\mathfrak{g}}\) of weight zero, then it is shown that \(S_1\) acts (via the above embedding and up to a scalar) by \((-1)^{l(w)}\) on the weight subspace of \(V(\rho)\) of weight \(w\rho\) and that the trace of \(S_1\) on all other weight subspaces is zero. Via the Weyl denominator formula it follows that the \(q=1\) limit of the KPRV determinant in this case is an infinite product of linear factors. From this the author makes a general conjecture on the form of this determinant for arbitrary \(q\).
