A theorem of Djoković and Hochschild states that if all finite dimensional modules of a complex finite dimensional Lie superalgebra are completely reducible, then it is a direct sum of semisimple Lie algebras and orthosymplectic Lie superalgebras \(\text{osp}(1,2l)\), \(l\geq 1\). On the other hand, the well known theorem of Duflo gives that the annihilator of a Verma module in the enveloping algebra of a semisimple Lie algebra is generated by its intersection with the centre. This result does not hold for the Lie superalgebra \(\text{osp}(1,2l)\) [\textit{G. Pinczon}, J. Algebra 132, No. 1, 219-242 (1990; Zbl 0702.17005) and \textit{I. M. Musson}, J. Algebra 193, No. 1, 75-101 (1997; Zbl 0885.17007)]. The main purpose of the paper under review is to give a necessary and sufficient condition on the highest weight of an \(\text{osp}(1,2l)\)-Verma module for its annihilator to be generated by its intersection with the centre. This answers a question of Musson. The authors use ideas of \textit{A. Joseph} and \textit{G. Letzter} [Ann. Sci. Ec. Norm. Supér., IV. Sér. 28, No. 4, 493-526 (1995; Zbl 0838.17011)] originally applied for an alternative approach to the Duflo theorem in the quantum case. They compute the factorization of the Parthasarathy-Ranga-Rao-Varadarajan determinants and compare it with the factorization of the Shapovalov determinants. Unlike to the classical and quantum cases, the first determinants have some extra factors. The set of zeros of these factors is precisely the set of highest weights of Verma modules with annihilators not generated by their intersection with the centre. The authors also find an analogue of the Hesselink formula for the multiplicity of every simple finite dimensional module in the graded component of the harmonic space in the symmetric algebra.
