The authors scatch the proof of the existence of weak solution of the initial-boundary value problem for the two-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations describing the isothermal motion of a viscous gas. It is assumed that the gas occupies a bounded two-dimensional domain. The solvability theorems include both the Dirichlet boundary conditions and periodic B.C.
