The authors construct a kind of continuous multivariate spline operators as the approximation tools of the multivariate functions on the \(\mathbb{R}^d,\) and obtain the approximation error. The spaces of multivariate polynomial splines are shown to be weakly asymptotically optimal for the Kolmogorov widths, and the linear widths of some anisotropic Sobolev classes of smooth functions on \(\mathbb{R}^d\) in the metric \(L_p(\mathbb{R}^d)\) are obtained.
