It is well known that every arithmetical variety of associative rings is a discriminator variety and it is generated by finitely many Galois fields. In this paper we describe finite near-rings which generate arithmetical varieties. We show that all finitely generated arithmetical near-ring varieties are discriminator and admit attainable identities. The latter result provides a partial answer to a question by \textit{S. Veldsman} [Result. Math. 24, 356-371 (1993; Zbl 0794.16034)].
