This paper concerned with the Riemann problem for one-dimensional general quasilinear hyperbolic system of conservation laws in the presence of a boundary. It is shown that the solution exhibits global structure instability, provided it contains at least one centered rarefaction wave. Certain applications in gasdynamics are also outlined.
