Consider the following coupled Schrödinger system with a small perturbation \[ \begin{aligned} u_{xx}+u-u^{3}+\beta uv^{2}+\epsilon f(\epsilon,u,u_{x},v,v_{x})=0 \quad &\text{ in } \mathbb{R}, \\ v_{xx}-v+v^{3}+\beta u^{2}v+\epsilon g(\epsilon,u,u_{x},v,v_{x})=0 \quad &\text{ in } \mathbb{R}, \end{aligned}\tag{S} \] where \(\beta\) and \(\epsilon\) are small parameters and the general nonlinear terms \(f\) and \(g\) satisfy \[ f(\epsilon,u,-u_{x},v,-v_{x})=f(\epsilon,u,u_{x},v,v_{x}),~~g(\epsilon,u,-u_{x},v,-v_{x})=g(\epsilon,u,u_{x},v,v_{x}), \] \[ f(\epsilon,-u,u_{x},v,-v_{x})=-f(\epsilon,u,u_{x},v,v_{x}),~~g(\epsilon,-u,u_{x},v,-v_{x})=g(\epsilon,u,u_{x},v,v_{x}). \] By a Fourier series expansion technique, a periodic solution is obtained for the system \((S)\) and a heteroclinic solution is obtained for the dominant system of \((S).\) Furthermore, the so-called generalized heteroclinic solution for the system \((S)\) is obtained by the fixed point theorem and the perturbation method, which means that the heteroclinic solution exponentially approaches the periodic solution at infinity. It is worth pointing out that the method of this paper is given by \textit{S. Deng} and \textit{B. Guo} [J. Dyn. Differ. Equations 24, No. 4, 761--776 (2012; Zbl 1257.35155)], which may be applied to a number of systems like the Schrödinger-KdV system.
