Let \(X,Y\) be Banach spaces and let \(r\in\mathbb Q_{+}\), \(d,l\in\mathbb{Z}\), \(1<l<\frac{d}{2}\) be fixed. For \(f:X\to Y\) and \(x_1,\ldots,x_d\in X\) let \[ \begin{aligned} Df(x_1,\dots,x_d):= &rf\left(\frac{\sum_{j=1}^{d}x_j}{r}\right)+ \sum_{\iota(j)=0,1; \;\sum_{j=1}^{d}\iota(j)=l} rf\left(\frac{\sum_{j=1}^{d}(-1)^{\iota(j)}x_j}{r}\right)\\ &-\left({d-1\choose l}-{d-1\choose l-1}+1\right)\sum_{j=1}^{d}f(x_j). \end{aligned} \] A mapping \(f: X\to Y\) is called a generalized additive mapping if \(Df(x_1,\dots,x_d)=0\) for all \(x_1,\dots,x_d\in X\). For an odd mapping \(f:X\to Y\) it is equivalent to additivity. The authors prove the stability of the considered equation. They assume that \(f\) is odd, in some sense homogeneous and the norm of the difference \(Df\) is bounded by some control mapping \(\varphi\) on \(X^d\). Under these assumptions, it is proved that \(f\) can be approximated by a unique generalized additive mapping. The results are also formulated for mappings between Banach left modules over a unital \(C^*\)-algebra.
