The definition of Euclidean position introduced earlier for a few surfaces by \textit{C. I. Grima} and \textit{A. Márquez} [Computational geometry on surfaces. Performing computational geometry on the cylinder, the sphere, the torus, and the cone. (Kluwer Academic, Dordrecht) (2001; Zbl 1067.52009)] is generalized here to a broad class of spaces called Euclidean 2-orbifolds. This has been characterized and an algorithm is also given to check if a point set is in Euclidean position. The authors also suggest possible extension of this notion to other surfaces.
