The authors define some new metrics on free groups and obtain a class of Polish groups by taking appropriate metric completions so that every Polish group is the quotient group of some one in the class. Moreover, they show that the resulting groups can be taken to be \(\Pi_3^0\) Polishable subgroups of the infinite permutation group \(S_{\infty}\). The paper ends with an open problem equivalent to a problem by [\textit{H. Becker} and \textit{A. S. Kechris}, London Mathematical Society Lecture Notes Series 232, Cambridge (1996; Zbl 0949.54052)].
