Let \(\mathbb{V}\), respectively \(\mathbb{V}^*\), denote a real vector space and its algebraic dual. Let \({\mathfrak H}\) denote a complex Hilbert space and \(\text{Herm}^+ ({\mathfrak H})\) the cone of positive definite operators. For a \(\text{Herm}^+ ({\mathfrak H})\)-valued measure \(\mu\) on \(\mathbb{V}^*\) (endowed with the \(\sigma\)-algebra defined by pointwise evaluations) the Laplace transform is defined as \[ {\mathcal L}(\mu): \mathbb{V}\to \text{Herm}^+ ({\mathfrak H}), \quad x\mapsto \int_{\mathbb{V}^*} e^{\lambda(x)} d\mu(\lambda). \] The paper under review is concerned with characterizations of positive operator-valued functions \(\varphi\) on cones \(S\subseteq\mathbb{V}\) as restrictions of Laplace transforms \({\mathcal L} (\mu)|_S\). It extends previous investigations, e.g. of \textit{A. E. Nussbaum} [Duke Math. J. 22, 573-582 (1955; Zbl 0066.36001)], \textit{J. Hoffmann-Jørgensen} and \textit{P. Ressel} [Math. Scand. 40, 79-93 (1977; Zbl 0419.46021)], \textit{E. Dettweiler} [Math. Scand. 45, 311-333 (1979; Zbl 0427.60009)] and \textit{K. H. Neeb} [Monatsh. Math. 126, 125-160 (1998)]. For the proofs of the main results the reader is referred to the author's doctoral thesis [``Infinite-dimensional complex groups and semigroups: Representations of cones, tubes, and conelike semigroups'', Doctoral dissertation, Darmstadt, University of Technology; in preparation].
