Characterizing the \(f\)-vectors and flag \(f\)-vectors of convex \(d\)-polytopes is still an open problem. The authors modify a generalization of Shemer's sewing construction for simplicial neighborly polytopes to allow the creation of nonsimplicial polytopes as well. Bisztricky's ordinary polytopes may be constructed in this manner, and examples for all possible flag \(f\)-vectors of polytopes with at most \(8\) vertices may be found. Furthermore, using their generalized sewing construction, the authors construct an infinite family of \(4\)-polytopes whose flag \(f\)-vector lie on extreme rays of the set of flag \(f\)-vectors of all \(4\)-polytopes.
