The Hosszú-Gluskin Theorem describes an \(n\)-group \((G,f)\), \(f\colon G^n\to G\) as an algebra \((G,\cdot,\varphi,b)\) of type \(\langle 2,1,0\rangle\) such that \((G,\cdot)\) is a group, \(b\in G\), \(\varphi\in\Aut(G,\cdot)\) with \(\varphi^{n-1}(x)\cdot b=b\cdot x\) and for every \(x_1,\dots,x_n\in G\), \((x_1,\dots,x_n)_0=x_1\cdot\varphi(x_2)\cdot\cdots\cdot\varphi^{n-1}(x_n)\cdot b\). The authors synthesize and write in a uniform and compressive form all results related to the Hosszú-Gluskin Theorem, adding several new results and comments. Moreover, they show that the mentioned theorem can be used for the evaluation of the number of non-isomorphic \(n\)-groups on small sets. It is sketched how the Hosszú-Gluskin Theorem gives the possibility to investigate the \(\mathcal D\)-independent subsets of semiabelian \(n\)-groups for some special families \(\mathcal D\) of mappings.
