The paper is devoted to the study of Daugavet centers between Banach spaces. A linear continuous nonzero operator \(G: X \rightarrow Y\) is called a Daugavet center if every rank-1 operator \(T: X \rightarrow Y\) satisfies \(\|G+T\|=\|G\|+\|T\|\). The main results of the paper deal with the case when either \(X\) or \(Y\) is a direct sum \(X_1\bigoplus_FX_2\) of two Banach spaces \(X_1\) and \(X_2\) by some two-dimensional Banach space \(F\). The author gives a geometrical description (in terms of the shape and number of edges of the unit sphere) of those two-dimensional spaces \(F\) for which there exists a Daugavet center acting from \(X_1\oplus_FX_2\) for some Banach spaces \(X_1\) and \(X_2\). A similar characterization is obtained for the spaces \(F\) such that there is a Daugavet center acting into \(X_1\oplus_FX_2\) for some Banach spaces \(X_1\) and \(X_2\).
