Noncommutative Pieri operators on posets (Q1584650): Difference between revisions

The theory developed links diverse areas of combinatorics and can be used to transfer techniques and ideas between them. More precisely, families of algebraic operators are introduced to select paths in a given poset or oriented multigraph and give rise to generating functions. This in turn induces a Hopf morphism, \(K\), from the Hopf algebra generated by the poset/oriented multigraph to the Hopf algebra of quasi-symmetric functions. It transpires that \(K\) appears frequently in the literature and specific instances include skew Schur functions, Ehrenborg's flat \(f\)-vector quasi-symmetric generating function, skew Schubert functions, Stanley symmetric functions of all types, noncommutative functions of Fomin and Greene and the weight enumerator of a labelled poset in both \(P\)-partition and enriched \(P\)-partition theory.
