The number of embeddings of integral quadratic forms. II (Q1076710): Difference between revisions

In the first paper [ibid. 61, 317-320 (1985; Zbl 0589.10020)] an expression was given of the number of equivalence classes of primitive embeddings from a nondegenerate integral quadratic lattice M into an indefinite unimodular lattice L in terms of a certain invariant e(N) of the orthogonal complement N of M in L. In the paper under review an effective procedure is described for calculating this invariant when N is indefinite with rank at least three. This extends some of the results of Nikulin.
