Recently, \textit{S. Hencl} and \textit{P. Koskela} [Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 180, 75--95 (2006; Zbl 1151.30325)] studied the regularity of \(f^{-1}\) for a homeomorphism \(f\) of the Sobolev class \(W^{1,p}_{loc}(\Omega,\Omega')\), where \(p\geq1\) and \(\Omega,\Omega'\) are domains in the plane. In general, the inverse of a Lipschitz homeomorphism doesn't belong to \(W_{loc}^{1,1}\). It is proven there that under the minimal possible regularity assumption the inverse lies in \(W_{loc}^{1,1}\). The aim of the present paper is to generalize this to higher dimensions. Among others it is proven: Theorem: Suppose \(f \in W_{loc}^{1,p}(\Omega,\Omega')\) for some \(p>n-1\) and \(f\) has finite distortion. Then \(f^{-1}\) has finite distortion and is differentiable almost everywhere.
