The paper generalizes the analysis of the Brezis-Nirenberg problem, which establishes the existence of the ground state (positive solution with the smallest energy) in the generalized nonlinear Schrödinger equation with the self-focusing nonlinearity of the critical exponent. Here, the problem is extended for a system of two equations with nonlinear coupling, in the spatial dimension \(D\geq 5\). In the case when the coupling nonlinear term is repulsive, the existence of the respective phase-separated state is proved for the limit case of strong repulsion.
