The authors consider a multilayer description of a geophysical flow with a free surface and a varying topography with layers as predetermined elements of the discretisation. The multilayer Saint-Venant model proposed by \textit{E. Audusse} et al. [ESAIM, Math. Model. Numer. Anal. 45, No. 1, 169--200 (2011; Zbl 1290.35194)] is obtained by integrating the hydrostatic Navier-Stokes equations over each layer. This system admits the so called BD-entropy and a gain of integrability on the velocity. Then, the stability of global weak solutions is shown using compactness method.
