The following IBVP for the damped wave equation with an additional second order dynamical boundary condition of hyperbolic type is considered: \[ \begin{cases} u_{tt}-\Delta u+P(x,u_t)=f(x,u)\text{ for }t>0,\;x\in\Omega,\\ u=0\text{ for }t>0,\;x\in\Gamma _0,\\ u_{tt}+{\partial}_{\nu}u-{\Delta}_{\Gamma}u+ Q(x,u_t)=g(x,u)\text{ for }t>0,\;x\in\Gamma_1,\\ u(0,x)=u_0(x),\;u_t(0,x)=u_1(x)\text{ for }x\in\overline{\Omega}.\end{cases} \] Here \(P\) and \(Q\) are nonlinear damping terms, \(\Omega\subset\mathbb{R}^N\), \(N\geq2\), \(\Gamma=\Gamma_0\cup\Gamma_1\) is the boundary of \(\Omega\), \({\Delta}_{\Gamma}\) denotes the Laplace-Beltrami operator on \(\Gamma\), \(\nu\) is the outward normal to \(\Omega\) and \(f\) and \(g\) are nonlinear source terms. Existence and uniqueness of solutions is investigated. The aim of the present paper is to extend to non-subcritical source terms \(f\) and \(g\) the results obtained by the author for subcritical source terms in the article [Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 223, No. 3, 1183--1237 (2017; Zbl 1368.35166)]. One starts by recalling backgrounds and preliminary results from the mentioned article. One states a set of assumptions on the functions \(P, Q, f, g\) and on the many parameters involved in different estimations and existence results, as well as different types of combinations of these assumptions. A key estimate to be used in the sequel is provided. Under a selected set of assumptions one proves a local existence and continuation result stating the existence of a regular maximal weak solution satisfying the energy identity. Further one proves a result on local existence-uniqueness and continuation and two variants of a local Hadamard well-posedness result. Some corollaries complete the analysis. As a main application of the local analysis, global-in-time versions of the mentioned results are obtained. Under a selected set of assumptions, results on global existence, global existence-uniqueness and global Hadamard well-posedness corollaries to them are proved. All results are discussed in detail, selected and summarized in tables for dimensions \(N=3\), \(N=4\), \(N=5\), \(N\geq6\). References contain 71 titles.
