Consider the commutator \([b,T](f) = bT(f)-T(bf)\), where \(T\) is a pseudodifferential operator with smooth symbol in the Hörmander class \(S^{0}_{1,0}\) and \(b\) belongs to \(CMO\), namely, the closure in \(BMO\) of the space of smooth functions with compact support. The main results in the paper concern the compactness of such commutators on weighted Lebesgue spaces \(L^p(\omega)\), \(1 < p < \infty\), where the function \(\omega\) belongs to a family of weights which includes the classical Muckenhoupt class. As a preliminary result, the authors derive a sufficient condition for compactness in these weighted spaces, which may be of independent interest.
