A 2-balanced Mendelsohn triple system \(MT(v,b)\) is a collection of \(b\) ordered triples on a set \(V\) of points, \(\left\vert V\right\vert =v\), such that any ordered pair of points occurs in the same number of blocks. In the paper the spectrum of pairs \((v,b)\) for which a 2-balanced Mendelsohn triple system \(MT(v,b)\) exists is characterized.
