The authors deal with the semigroup kernels associated with the subelliptic operators \[ H=-\sum A_ic_{ij}A_j+ \sum(c_iA_i+ A_ic_i')+ c_0I \] acting on the \(L_p\)-spaces formed with respect to the left-invariant Haar measure \(dg\) on a connected Lie group \(G\). Here \(c_{ij}\), \(c_i\), \(c_i'\), \(c_0 \in L_\infty\) are complex-valued and \(A_i\) denote generators of left translations on \(G\). The subellipticity is expressed by strict-definiteness of the real part of the matrix \((c_{ij})\), uniformly over \(G\). If the principal coefficients \(c_{ij}\) are, moreover, right uniformly continuous, the operator \(H\) generates a strongly continuous holomorphic semigroup with kernel \(K\) that is Hölder continuous and satisfies the bounds \[ \bigl|K_z(g,h) \bigr|\leq a|z|^{-D/2} e^{\omega|z|} e^{-b(|gh^{-1} |)^2 |z|^{-1}} \] uniformly in a sector \(|\arg z|<\vartheta\) of the complex plane. The article is rather technical, with De Giorgi estimates and Morey-Campanato spaces playing an important role.
