The paper introduces a rather general Lagrangian formulation and its specialized variations for studying dynamics and control of a large class of flexible, deployable and articulating structures, forming a tree-type topology with open branches. The application of the formulation is illustrated through two space station systems. The computer code is written in a modular fashion to help to isolate the effects of flexibility, deployment, character and orientation of the appendages, inertia and orbital parameters.
