A recent proposal of \textit{W. Lipski jun.} [e.g. ACM Trans. Database Syst. 4, 262-296 (1979)] for treating incomplete information in databases is reformulated, and thereby generalized, using the possibility theory of \textit{L. A. Zadeh} [Fuzzy Sets Syst. 1, 3-28 (1978; Zbl 0377.04002)]. It becomes possible to consider incomplete knowledge based on soft information. Additionally, queries involving cardinalities of (fuzzy) sets are considered. The whole approach looks really promising and seems to be worth of further study.
