A two-dimensional nonrelativistic classical mechanical model is presented in both Lagrangian and Hamiltonian formulation with corresponding constraints, Dirac brackets and Ostrogradski-Dirac symplectic formalism. It is shown that the quantization of this model could be easily achieved by using the geometrically motivated Faddeev-Jackiw method if the canonical variables are chosen in a special way. Galilean symmetries, such as, Noether charges and conservation laws are dicussed. Dynamics of the model is considered in the framework of symplectic formalism based on the phase space with noncommuting space coordinates. It is shown that the Hamiltonian may be diagonalized. Velocity dependent interactions for the two-dimensional two-particle model are investigated. It is found that in case of noncommutative harmonic forces all the eigenvalues remain positive. It is shown that states with indefinite metric exist by imposing a Gupta-Bleuler type subsidiary condition.
