The present book defines and analyzes some main directions of research in modeling and control for industrial systems. These are: industrial robots; mobile robots and autonomous vehicles; adaptive and robust control of electromechanical systems; filtering and stochastic estimation for multi-sensor fusion and sensorless control of industrial systems; fault detection and isolation in robotic and industrial systems; optimization in industrial automation in robotic systems design; machine intelligence for robots autonomy; and vision-based industrial systems. Through 16 chapters the book is anticipated to provide a sufficient coverage of the topic of modeling and control for intelligent industrial systems and to motivate the continuation of research effort towards the development of adaptive algorithms for robotics and industrial engineering. The book may serve as a tool for students, scientists and engineers from academia and industry experienced in these attractive areas. It can be also a source for courses which can be part of the academic programme of Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering and Computer Science Departments.
