The authors present a simplified version of a system of ordinary differential equations that matches a Friedman-Robertson-Walker metric to an Oppenheimer-Tolman metric across a shock interface. The system is used to find formulas for some physical quantities like the pressure, the density, etc. As an application, the authors obtain conditions under which the well-known Lax shock conditions hold, together with conditions for all ``speeds'' to be bounded by the speed of light. The results are restricted to the case when the shock wave is outside the Schwarzschild sphere.
