The theorem of \textit{S. G. Krein} and \textit{E. M. Semenov} [together with \textit{Yu. I. Petunin}, Interpolation of linear operators (1982; Zbl 0493.46058)] is closely connected to interpolation of weak type operators. The main purpose of the present paper is to point out the functorial sense of the cited theorem.
