Eulerian numbers, tableaux, and the Betti numbers of a toric variety (Q1191958): Difference between revisions

This paper presents an explicit description of isotypic Betti numbers in terms of certain types of Young tableaux with marked entries. The fundamental idea which leads to this description is a new way to use marked sequences to encode permutations. This encoding, amongst several other interesting implications, provides a transparent explanation of the unimodality of Eulerian numbers and their isotypic refinements.
