    The author considers initial boundary value problems for a class of strongly coupled quasilinear parabolic systems which have certain structure conditions that guarantee \(h_ \infty\) and \(C_{\alpha,\alpha/2}\) estimates and, hence, the existence of global classical solutions. A typical representative of this class is the two species cross diffusion system \[ u_ t-\text{div}(\alpha\nabla u+ c_ 1(u)d_ 2(v)\nabla v)= f_ 1(u,v),\;v_ t- \text{div}(\alpha\nabla v+ c_ 2(v)d_ 1(u)\nabla u)= f_ 2(u,v) \] with nonnegative and bounded \(d_ i(t)/c_ i(t)\) and \({d\over dt} \sqrt{d_ i(t)/c_ i(t)}\).
