For Symm's integral equation simple numerical integration schemes for implementing spline collocation methods are studied. It is shown that by combining standard quadrature rules of Gauss or Lobatto type with special correction terms the logarithmic singularity of the kernel can be handled such that stability and asymptotic convergence properties of the spline collocation are maintained. The approach differs essentially from the conventional approach to study the effect of numerical integration as perturbations of the cofficient matrix and combines a deep analysis of the collocation method with recent results on qualocation and fully-discrete Galerkin methods.
