Local Taylor polynomial interpolation and local Lagrange polynomial interpolation for a sufficiently smooth function in a rectangle with sides parallel to the \(x\)-axis and \(y\)-axis respectively are considered. Asymptotic error estimates are studied in both cases. The results are useful for finite element approximation.
