The first question the paper deals with the question for which systems and for how large sets \(A\) it is true that the Hausdorff dimension of the set of points whose orbits do not have limit points belonging to \(A\) equals the dimension of the phase space [see also \textit{S. G. Dani}, Ergodic Theory Dyn. Syst. 8, No. 4, 523-529 (1988; Zbl 0673.28009)]. Corresponding results are obtained for piecewise expanding maps of an interval and for Anosov diffeomorphisms of the two-dimensional torus. Then the paper deals with a uniformly \(C^2\) Anosov flow \(g^t\) on a connected (noncompact) Riemannian manifold \(Q\) of bounded sectional curvature. The set of points whose forward \(g^t\)-orbits are bounded is denoted by \(B^+\) and the set of points whose forward trajectories are recurrent by \(R^+\). Given a set \(A\subset Q\), \(Ig^+ (A)\) denotes the set of points whose forward orbits do not have limit points belonging to \(A\). The author works with the dimension with respect to a dynamical system introduced in \textit{Ya. B. Pesin} [Ergodic Theory Dyn. Syst. 4, 405-420 (1984; Zbl 0616.58038)] and proves that for any countable set \(A\), \(\dim_{g^t} (B^+ \cap Ig^+(A)) =\dim_{g^t} (R^+)\). It is also proved that if either (1) \(g^t\) is the geodesic flow on a negatively curved surface, or (2) \(g^t\) is the geodesic flow on a manifold of constant negative curvature, or (3) \(g^t\) has a finite smooth invariant measure, then \(B^+\) and \(R^+\) have the same Hausdorff dimension. Some corollaries of the above results are shown. Methods of symbolic dynamics are used in the paper.
