If \(G\) is a finite group, an element \(x\in G\) is called c-normal if there exists \(N\trianglelefteq G\) such that \(G=N\langle x\rangle\) and \(N\cap\langle x\rangle\trianglelefteq G\). The generalized Fitting subgroup of \(G\) is denoted by \(F^*(G)\). The author shows that the c-normality of elements of prime order and of order 4 in the \(F^*(N)\) for some well-chosen normal subgroups \(N\) of \(G\) has a strong influence on the structure of \(G\). As an example, I quote the second main result of the paper, Theorem 3.2: If \(G\) is a finite group, if \(N\trianglelefteq G\) such that \(G/N\) is supersolvable and if the elements of prime order and of order 4 of \(F^*(N)\) are c-normal in \(G\), then \(G\) is supersolvable. The first main result replaces ``supersolvable'' with ``nilpotent'' provided that the elements of order 4 in \(F^*(N)\) are c-normal in \(G\) and the elements of prime order in \(F^*(N)\) belong to the hypercenter of \(G\).
