Discrete-time nonlinear systems with an externally controlled scheduling variable, are considered. A local and a global control law, both of which are based on the backstepping idea, are given. It is shown under which conditions stability can be guaranteed. Both control laws are applied to an aircraft control problem, and simulation results are compared.
