In this paper, the authors present a construction of wavelets and prewavelets over triangulations which are derived from continuous piecewise spline functions. The wavelets constructed in this paper have short support which is a desirable feature in wavelet-based numerical algorithms in numerically solving differential equations. Discussions on recent developments and results on piecewise linear prewavelets and orthogonal wavelets are also presented.
