A mapping \(f\) of the class \(W^{1,1}_{\text{loc}}(\Omega,{\mathbb R}^n)\) in a domain \(\Omega\) of \({\mathbb R}^n\) is said to have finite distortion provided that \(J(x,f)\) is locally integrable and for some measurable function \(K(x) \geq 1\), finite a.e., \(| Df(x)| ^n \leq K(x)J(x,f)\) a.e. In the paper the author extends his and his co-authors continuity and compactness results of mappings of finite distortion with subexponentially integrable \(K(x)\) [see Invent. Math. 144, No. 3, 507--531 (2001; Zbl 1006.30016) and Ann. Acad. Sci. Fenn., Math. 27, No. 2, 391--417 (2002; Zbl 1017.30024)], to mappings of finite distortion where the integrability condition for \(K(x)\) is replaced by a weaker version on the minors of the differential matrix \(Df(x)\).
