The paper considers an M/G/1 system with the following assumptions: 1) customers arrive at the system according to a Poisson process; 2) the first ``essential'' service is needed to all customers; 3) the second service is optional; 4) the ``essential'' service times are independent and have common distribution; 5) the optional service times are independent and have common exponential distribution; 6) in the ``essential'' service, the server fails at an exponential rate; 7) in the second service, the server fails at another exponential rate; 8) when the server breaks down, it is sent for repair; 9) the customer just being served before server breakdown waits for the server to complete its remaining service; 10) the repair time distributions depend on the service phases. The paper obtains the Laplace-Stieltjes transforms and moment generating functions of the main characteristics of the system.
