A dual pair of non-polytopal 3-diagrams \((D,D^*),\) subsequently modified to yield a dual pair \((S,S^*)\) of non-polytopal 3-spheres in \(E^ 4\) is constructed, to show that the existence of \(S^*\) does not imply in general that \(S\) is polytopal.
