A Malcev algebra M is called supersolvable if there exists an increasing chain of ideals of M, each of codimension one in the next. In this paper there are extended to Malcev algebras some results on Lie algebras due to \textit{D. W. Barnes} [Math. Z. 101, 343-349 (1967; Zbl 0166.041)]. Actually, it is proved that a Malcev algebra is supersolvable if and only if the derived subalgebra is nilpotent and \(R_ x\) is split for all x in M, where \(R_ x\) is the mapping such that \(yR_ x=yx\) for y in M, and that M is supersolvable if and only if so is M/\(\Phi\) (M), where \(\Phi\) (M) is the Frattini subalgebra of M. Lie's theorem for Malcev algebras is proved too and supersolvability is characterized by means of conditions on the lattice of subalgebras of the Malcev algebra. Finally, following the ideas of the theory of formations constructed by \textit{D. W. Barnes} and \textit{H. M. Gastineau-Hills} [Math. Z. 106, 343-354 (1968; Zbl 0164.037)], it is shown that any solvable Malcev algebra contains supersolvable projectors and, under suitable conditions, these are conjugate. Most of the results of this paper have been proved in an independent way by the reviewer [Commun. Algebra 14, 311-321 (1986; Zbl 0597.17013)].
