Stable adaptive control of a class of linear, slowly time-varying plants is established. Roughly, a plant belongs to the class, if its parameters lie in a certain known, convex, stabilizable set for all time (thus including certain minimum and non-minimum phase plants), and vary sufficiently slowly in the mean. The average speed of the time variations which can be allowed for stability depends on the stability margin of the underlying time-invariant controller design.
