The author studies the existence of positive solutions to boundary value problems of the form \[ y'' (t) +a(t) f(y(t)) = \theta , \quad 0< t< 1,\quad y(0)=\theta , \qquad y(1) =\beta y(\eta ), \] in a Banach space \(E\), where \(\theta\) is the zero element of \(E\), \(0<\beta <1\), \(0<\eta< 1\) and \(a(t)\) is allowed to change sign on \([0,1]\). He uses fixed-point theorems for strict-set contractions to prove the main results and gives applications.
