The authors are concerned with the phase dynamics of a chain of autonomous, self-sustained, dispersively coupled oscillators. In \(\S2\), they introduce the basic model \[ \frac{dv_n}{dt}=q(v_{n+1})-q(v_{n-1}), \] which includes the complex Ginzburg-Landau lattice and an array of Josephson junctions as examples. In \(\S3\), the authors discuss some general properties of the basic model. In the quasicontinuum limit, the basic model reduces to a Korteveg-de Vries-like equation, but with a nonlinear dispersion. In \(\S4\), some important and interesting properties of traveling waves of the basic model are discovered. In the last section, the authors describe numerical simulations of the basic model.
