The paper gives a general theory of \(n\)-fold Čech derived functors. As an illustration of the methods, one has the generalisation of the Brown-Ellis higher Hopf formula [\textit{R. Brown} and \textit{G. J. Ellis}, Bull. Lond. Math. Soc. 20, 124--128 (1988; Zbl 0611.20032)] by a new purely algebraic way.
