The author in the first place derives a number of useful identities on a gradient shrinking Ricci soliton, that are then used to show that if a compact gradient shrinking soliton admits a Riemannian metric with positive curvature operator and satisfies a certain inequality, then it must be Einstein and, furthermore, must be of constant curvature.
